For roughly the price of a Switch 2, I came home from Japan with a second-hand Switch, ten games, a Pro Controller, SNES and N64 controllers, and a pair of Taiko drums. Here’s everything I bought, what I paid, and whether a first-generation Switch still makes sense in 2026, especially if you’re coming back to gaming after years away. 💷 About the prices: I paid in yen while in Japan (summer 2026). Pound figures are approximate, converted at roughly ¥215 to £1. The total was ¥92,328, about £430. 🎮 In this video: Super Mario Odyssey · Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury · Mario Kart 8 Deluxe · Zelda: Breath of the Wild · Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom · Metroid Prime Remastered · Donkey Kong Country Returns HD · Minecraft · Rhythm Paradise Groove (JP: Rhythm Tengoku: Miracle Stars) · Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival ⏱️ Chapters 0:00 Intro 0:57 The Switch 2 price problem 1:55 The console 2:18 Super Mario Odyssey 2:40 Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury 3:04 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 3:26 Zelda: Breath of the Wild 3:50 Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 4:17 Halfway check: under half a Switch 2 4:27 Metroid Prime Remastered 4:57 Donkey Kong Country Returns HD 5:28 Minecraft 5:54 Rhythm Paradise Groove 6:42 Pro Controller 7:06 SNES controller 7:26 N64 controller 7:53 Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival 8:15 Taiko drums 8:45 Summary 11:42 Final tally 📺 Missed the first video?
