It was created to be a fun way for students to learn about the perils that settlers faced as they migrated across the American frontier. The Oregon Trail was later published by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium in 1974 and distributed to schools throughout Minnesota for free as an educational resource. The games we are looking at today were released by Pressman and Basic Fun as Target store exclusives in 2017.
