Ponziani Jaenisch Counterattack (apparently) 🤝 {Game 303}

Chill_Dad_Chess takes the Black pieces against tojo01 in another 15+10 rated rapid game on Lichess. This time, the battle begins with the Ponziani Opening: Jaenisch Counterattack, leading to a sharp and highly active position. Black challenged White's centre early with ...d5, while White expanded on the queenside with b4 and b5. The position became increasingly dynamic as both sides manoeuvred their pieces and fought for control of the open files. White's rook became particularly active on the seventh rank with Ra7, but Black managed to coordinate the pieces and generate counterplay. The middlegame featured several exchanges and tactical sequences before the queens were finally traded on move 32. From there, the game entered a technical rook endgame. Both sides activated their rooks and tried to find a way through, but neither player could create a decisive breakthrough. Black offered a draw on move 33, and after further play the draw was eventually agreed following 43...Rb3.
