This will be the last video before the World Championships take place—as I am unable to go, I will just have to watch from home. I’ll have some Kirby Air Riders and Splatoon 3 stuff over the weekend to have something else going on on my channel during then, and continued coverage of Rhythm Heaven Groove. I’ll keep to the biweekly schedule, so more Pokémon Champions should continue in early September 2026. 00:00 - Battle #1 Type: Single Battle Opponent: Poke Champ Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Battle Arena My Pokémon: Leonardo (Pyroar), Fletcher (Decidueye) (Hisuian), Castilla (Bastiodon) Opponent’s Pokémon: Scolipede, Annihilape, Excadrill The strategy my opponent used in this battle involved beginning with Scolipede to stack Attack boosts with Swords Dance and Speed boosts with, well, Speed Boost, then Baton Pass them to someone else. In this case, it’s Annihilape, who uses powerful Drain Punches. The idea is that these Drain Punch and Rage Fist attacks can KO anyone in their way while Drain Punch, in particular, heals Annihilape back up. Something that can withstand these boosted attacks (or ignore them outright, like with Unaware) and can retaliate with enough force for a one-hit knockout is the last thing they want to see though…maybe also priority moves to Scolipede. I always found it weird to have people calling themselves kings, master, champions, or such, as anyone who self-proclaims that is not one. Shakespeare pointed it out too. 03:08 - Battle #2 Type: Single Battle Opponent: そよかぜ (Soyokaze) Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Jacinthe My Pokémon: Fletcher (Decidueye) (Hisuian), Juno (Beartic), Socrates (Slowking) (Galarian) Opponent’s Pokémon: Zoroark (Hisuian), Meowscarada, Raichu Ordinarily, Hisuian Zoroark has only one weakness (Dark), meaning Meowscarada is a solid choice for it to pass itself as from Illusion. This is a special case though, as Scrappy bypassing Ghost immunity means both Hisuian Zoroark and Meowscarada are weak to Fighting. The fact that they brought up Meowscarada immediately after Zoroark went down, however, tells me this one had a Choice Scarf and was readying up a Triple Axel—and it seems they might not have had an alternate game plan for if I was ready for that. (I think this is the first Meowscarada I’ve seen that was still standing after a Close Combat from Juno (Beartic) without a Focus Sash.) Jacinthe’s name is one of the most frequently mispronounced Pokémon character names, right up there with Cyrano—it’s pronounced “zha-SAUNT,” for the record. (And Cyrano is pronounced “SEE-rah-no.”) French pronunciation can be difficult. 06:23 - Battle #3 Type: Single Battle Opponent: 기묵주인 (Gimugjuin) Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Battle Arena My Pokémon: Socrates (Slowking) (Galarian), Juno (Beartic), Fletcher (Decidueye) (Hisuian) Opponent’s Pokémon: Meowscarada, Umbreon, Delphox This was the slowest-paced battle of this video, but not because of Umbreon this time. Triple Arrows is one of the moves that can do something about that, but not always: the 30% chance of a flinch, if it happens, can really hamper Umbreon, especially as the move hits super-effectively. (The higher critical hit chance, not quite as important.) It was Delphox who slowed the pace down, as they were evasive about that Pokémon, being put on the defensive when I was able to get Juno (Beartic) out later on in the snow and they realized Slush Rush really does threaten it. I was able to keep up because I made a change in Fletcher’s (Decidueye’s) moves, putting in something I didn’t know Decidueye could learn. (And this Meowscarada does not have Triple Axel, it seems, or my opponent, knowing about Triple Arrows, didn’t want to use Triple Axel.) 10:46 - Battle #4 Type: Single Battle Opponent: Trainer Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Trainer (X & Y) My Pokémon: Socrates (Slowking) (Galarian), Juno (Beartic), Leonardo (Pyroar) Opponent’s Pokémon: Hippowdon, Metagross, Pimarina My opponent decided to have their name withheld, so they’re simply called “the Trainer.” I also changed the moves on Leonardo (Pyroar) a bit, which paid off at the end there when I had something strong enough to take out Hippowdon. I also chaged SLudge Wave on Socrates (Slowking) to Sludge Bomb for the better Poison chance. 15:25 - Battle #5 Type: Single Battle Opponent: Lyra Battle Court: Battle Arena Music: Team MZ Showdown My Pokémon: Fletcher (Decidueye) (Hisuian), Castilla (Bastiodon), Leonardo (Pyroar) Opponent’s Pokémon: Gyarados, Dragalge, ? Without a Water attack, Castilla (Bastiodon) more or less walls Dragalge, allowing me to use Iron Defense to its fullest and not care about it being not-very-effective against either Gyarados or Dragalge. This one had a Toxic stall strategy combined with Toxic Spikes, meaning I really should’ve selected Laverne (my own Dragalge) or Socrates (Slowking), both of whom are Poison-types and can absorb Toxic Spikes. No Dragon Tail though.
