This video is a love letter to myself. A confirmation to trust my gut when times are tough and always believe in myself. Things work out. They really do!
Some months ago as I laid awake at night (I do that sometimes) this song popped in my head by @elliegouldingofficial
And right then I knew I had to go on the ice and skate to it. If you’ve seen the original video for the song, you’ll notice they’re rather similar, with the one major difference that I’m on the ice.
So why did I feel this huge urge to skate to this? Firstly as you notice this is a very different, more intimate and personal video compared to any other videos I’ve made in the past on ice. And to me it’s also the most special one.
It’s filmed mostly in slo-mo and very close up. I’m not doing anything complicated on the ice, but what’s different is that I felt completely ‘naked’. Khm I mean that my mind and heart felt naked, but in a good way. I guess what I’m trying to explain is that this video is sort of a love story that we’ve all felt at one point in our lives and so I felt this urge to express these feelings and emotions to this one song on the ice. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not in any sort of pain, but I have felt pain in the past and I guess all these years later I finally felt like expressing what I have felt. So it’s a bit like a love letter for myself and not for anybody else, but the reason I decided to share this, is because I believe and hope some of you may relate or feel something as you watch this. And I want to encourage you to express what you feel in a healthy way to help you reach clearance.
The song Flux is about a past love that we hold on very dearly. Haven’t we all been there, especially when younger? Guilty! Well anyway some years ago, when I was going through lots of difficult things in my life which included a heartbreak, but also me stopping figure skating I listened to Flux a lot and then just stopped, for years. I find it interesting how life works, that randomly many years later this song pops in my head in the middle of the night and I couldn’t get it out of me, till I was on the ice filming this video.
This was filmed in collaboration with @TheMa6nus and @KarliSaul Magnus is also behind the incredible video of me on the sea and in the swamp which you see in my YouTube and he is not even a skater! He is just the easiest and fun person to work with and I don’t think he even realises how much it means to me that he just makes my ‘dreams’ come true on the ice. So thank you Magnus! Find him on instagram and youtube@TheMa6nus to see his other awesome works.
