I drove 100 miles across Iceland to visit one of the most fascinating and unusual places in the country — the famous Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck! 🇮🇸✈️ Located on Iceland’s dramatic black-sand landscape, this abandoned aircraft looks almost unreal. The wreck is the remains of a U.S. Navy Douglas C-117D that made an emergency landing on Sólheimasandur in 1973. Amazingly, everyone on board survived the emergency landing. The aircraft was eventually abandoned, and today it has become one of Iceland’s most iconic and photographed landmarks. In this video, I take you along on my journey to see the plane wreck for myself — from the drive through Iceland’s incredible scenery to standing right beside this piece of aviation history. 🌋 Location: Sólheimasandur, South Coast, Iceland ✈️ Attraction: Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck 🇮🇸 Country: Iceland Would you drive 100 miles just to see an abandoned plane in the middle of a black-sand desert? 😃 If you enjoyed the video, please LIKE 👍, SUBSCRIBE 🔔 and SHARE it with someone who loves Iceland and adventure! #Iceland #PlaneWreck #Solheimasandur #IcelandTravel #IcelandRoadTrip #VisitIceland #TravelIceland #BlackSandBeach #IcelandAdventure #travelvlog #germany #unitedstate #unitedkingdom #iceland #icelandadventure
