What Every Christian Should Know Before Voting | Lauren Gideon & Lindsay Maher

As Americans, we have been entrusted with something extraordinary: the responsibility of self-government. Yet, too often, we approach elections with frustration, confusion, or indifference, forgetting the tremendous influence we have as citizens. With the 2026 midterm elections approaching, Lauren Gideon and Lindsay Maher return to the Hope Podcast for a timely conversation about faith, freedom, civic responsibility, and the future of Iowa. Lauren, Director of Government Relations for Classical Conversations, and Lindsay, a longtime advocate for medical freedom and grassroots involvement in Iowa, bring their experience and biblical convictions to a discussion about the responsibilities of Christian citizenship. Together, we explore how to become an informed voter, evaluate candidates beyond political promises and endorsements, understand the proper role of government, and recognize why local elections matter so much. We also examine Iowa's major political races, the growing influence of grassroots movements, and the importance of restoring power to the people. But at the heart of this conversation is a much greater question: Are we faithfully stewarding the liberty and responsibility God has entrusted to us? Our hope for America's future isn't found in a single candidate or election. It begins with citizens willing to take responsibility, pursue truth, and faithfully serve the generations to come.
