Pere Marquette 1225 Howell Melon Fest 2016

On an interesting afternoon, we headed out to Howell, MI for the Howell Melon Fest Train Excursions. At the head was Pere Marquette 1225, which now has flying numberboards again. We attempted to chase the run at noon, and that was a fail. We were able to get the first shot in Howell, then missed it at our second location. And it turns out the third location was beyond the turn-around point. It's hard to chase when you have little information. But we chased the 2 PM run and had success. We had an unexpected chase of the diesel pulling it back. We expected to stay and see it at the end crossing, but were able to catch it again at Henderson Rd. That ended our day of train chasing. I met two other railfans, Midwest Rail Excursions and Railfan Kyle. Overall, it was a great day, and I hope to do it again sometime. Thank you all for watching. -Casey
