25TH 4TH of July Road Trip Extravaganza FULL VIDEO

I decided to go on a road trip around the State of Nevada for America’s 250th birthday. I wanted to see Nevada, the Silver State. What better way to celebrate America's birthday than to Explore some of Nevada’s ghost towns and attractions. (Day 1) I left Las Vegas Thursday July 2nd on a 5 day trip around Nevada. I stopped at the back gate to The Nevada Test Range (Unofficial Area 51gate) because Maeve needed some water. Then we made it out to the Amargosa Dunes. Maeve and I spent a lot of time at Rhyolite looking at all of the ruins of what once was a boom town. We checked out the Goldwell Open Art Museum and the recreation of “The Last Supper”, the artist Alber Szukalski used plaster to create a sculpture of the great painting by Leonardo da Vinci. Then it was time for Maeve and I to head to our camping site for the night in the old mining town of Bonnie Claire. (Day 2) After having coffee and oatmeal it was time to start my day. Maeve and I got all packed up and got on the road. First we went to the International Car Forrest of the Last Church. Boy did we spend a lot of time here. It was a great place to fly a drone and get some good shots of the whole art installation. I spent so much time there it was important to get back on the road. After one of the tent poles split last night, it was important to get some tape to fix it. So we didn’t stop in Goldfield, instead we high tailed it to Tonopah. Off of U.S. Route 6 is what’s left of an old army air base. There are two Aircraft Hangers that are completely made out of wood, still standing. These hangers were made with wood to conserve the metals for military machines. After driving around the old air field I realized it was all Private Property, so I couldn’t camp there. Back on the road to find dispersed camping. I drove an hour and a half North of Tonopah and finally found a spot about 16 miles from the Berlin Ghost Town: Part 3’s destination. (Day 3) It's the 4th of July!!! 250 years of the USA!!! I got on the road to the Berlin Ghost Town and Ichthyosaurus Nevada State Park. After camping 16 miles from the Park it didn’t take long to get there. Berlin is one of the most well preserved ghost towns in Nevada if not the whole united states. This is a “MUST” visit if you are in Nevada. I spent a good amount of time here. Until 3 little dogs came up to Maeve and I, barking and raising up a fuss. I had to put Maeve in the truck, running. It was a little too much. I had planned to go to Fort Churchill but the distance was too far. I didn’t want to put myself into a fuel shortage situation, so I moved on to Fallon and arrived at Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon and stayed the night. (Day 4) 5th of July The storm has rolled in as we got moving down Highway 50, the Loneliest Road In America. The clouds were amazing throughout my entire drive on the 50. I stopped to capture a time lapse of the clouds while they were passing by. Maeve and I were about an hour outside of Fallon. We stopped near a Navy surplus of tracked vehicles. Maeve had a ball out there, she needed to get that energy out. We got back on the road because the rain was starting to get heavy. After arriving in Austin, I had to go right to Stokes Castle. I find it Amazing someone would have such a place built, only to live there for 2 months. As the story continues, the rain has become the main character today. I was constantly driving in and out of different storms. I had run into the same issue with Eureka, as I did with Austin: every thing was closed. It was probably for the best because of all the storms. So I continued on until I found a good place to park. Due to all of the rain, my tent and bed were soaked, so I had no choice but to sleep in the Truck cab. (Day 5) It's the last leg of the trip. After camping in the truck cab for the night. I made coffee and got on the dirt road to the Belmont Mill. This a great find in the middle of no where. what a great find with well preserved structures. After spending some time at the old mill it was time to get on the road to Ely. Ely is a little mountain town on US Route 50. It has a storied history over 2,000 years of people occupying this area. It had a large mining boom, that created a railroad system to gather and distribute all of the ore. Today it's great Museum you should visit if you're in the area. after visiting Ely it was time to get back to Las Vegas.
