Bad Starter? Bad Motor? Replacing the Starter on a 1988 Ford Ranger

Well is the starter going bad? Or is the motor going bad? Given it is a 1988 Ford Ranger with 250,000 miles on it, either one is possible! Since I have a second starter available I'm going to try installing the second starter and see if that fixes my issues! And the issue btw is when the truck is warm the starter doesn't want to start the truck. It just cranks over really slowly, too slowly!
