Diverted LOCO HAULED service on the Settle & Carlisle Railway

In February 2000 diverted trains via the Settle & Carlisle Railway were loco hauled by Class 47 locomotives & Mark 2/3 coaches complete with opening droplight windows. Back then it was standard practice to use the Settle & Carlisle Railway when the West Coast Main Line was closed for engineering work. No need for passengers to have to change trains at Carlisle & Preston onto a bus or coach. These were genuine through trains linking our major cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham & London.
