🏔️ STOOS RIDGE HIKE | FRONALPSTOCK → KLINGENSTOCK 🇨🇭 This was a completely spontaneous hiking plan for us — and honestly, one of those days when Switzerland completely surprised us. 🥰 We started our journey in Schwyz taking the famous Stoos funicular up to the car-free mountain village of Stoos. From there, we walked to the chairlifts and took two chairlift sections up to Fronalpstock. And then the real adventure began! 🥾 We hiked along the famous Stoos ridge trail from Fronalpstock to Klingenstock with incredible views over Lake Lucerne, the surrounding Alps and the valleys on both sides. HOW TO GET THERE 📍 Schwyz → Stoos Take the famous Stoos funicular from Schwyz to Stoos. The ride takes around 7 minutes. 📍 Stoos → Fronalpstock From Stoos, walk to the Fronalpstock chairlift and take the two sections up to the summit. There is one transfer between the two chairlifts. 📍 Fronalpstock → Klingenstock This is where our hike starts! 🥾 📍 Klingenstock → Stoos After finishing the hike, take the chairlift down from Klingenstock and walk back through Stoos to the funicular. 📍 Stoos → Schwyz Take the funicular back down to Schwyz. The official Stoos recommendation describes the ridge hike in the opposite direction, Klingenstock → Fronalpstock, and estimates the hike at around 2.5 hours. We did it in reverse, from Fronalpstock to Klingenstock and it took almost 3 hours for us. TICKETS & PRICE For summer 2026, the Peak Experience day ticket is CHF 58 per adult and includes unlimited use of the Stoos mountain railways, including the funicular and the chairlifts to Fronalpstock and Klingenstock. 💡 If you're planning to do the full ridge hike, this day ticket is worth considering rather than buying each lift separately. WHAT WE RECOMMEND This trip was spontaneous for us, so we weren't perfectly prepared — and we definitely learned a few things along the way! 😄 👟 Wear proper hiking shoes. The trail is beautiful, but there are some steep and narrow sections. Hiking shoes with good grip are a much better choice than casual sneakers. Dress for the mountains We'd recommend comfortable light hiking clothes and bringing an extra layer. The weather can feel very different at the top. 💧 Bring MORE water than you think you'll need! We brought water with us, but we eventually finished it during the hike. We couldn't find a fountain along our route, so don't rely on being able to refill your bottle along the ridge. ☀️ Don't forget sun protection. There isn't much shade on some sections of the ridge, so sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat can be really useful. 🥪 Bring some snacks or a picnic. There are some incredible places along the trail where you can simply stop, sit down and enjoy the view. 🌦️ Check the weather before you go. The views are the main attraction, so choosing a clear day can make a huge difference. This is definitely a hike where the journey is just as beautiful as the destination. Have you done the Stoos Ridge Hike before? Would you hike it from Fronalpstock → Klingenstock or the other way around? 😊 #Stoos #StoosRidgeHike #Fronalpstock #Klingenstock #SwitzerlandHiking #SwitzerlandTravel #HikingSwitzerland #SwissAlps #VisitSwitzerland #Switzerland #Hiking #SwissMountains
