Access Beyond Awareness | SSHAI at Yelewata IDP Camp, Benue State, Nigeria

On 26 September 2026, the Sickle Support & Health Access Initiative (SSHAI) visited Yelewata IDP Camp in Makurdi, Benue State, for Access Beyond Awareness, the second and final program of our September 2026 Sickle Cell Awareness Campaign. Beyond raising awareness, the program focused on connecting community members with essential health services and providing practical support to beneficiaries affected by sickle cell disease. Activities included: • Genotype result delivery and counselling • Clinical services • Distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets • Medication support for beneficiaries living with sickle cell disease In this highlight video, we share moments from the program and a closer look at the people, activities, and purpose behind the work.
