PASTEL DE NATA - A road trip to portugal

Once a year I head back to Shareland — a little slice of paradise perched above São Julião beach near Ericeira, Portugal. It’s become a second home, and after a long, depressing winter, I needed sun, dirt, ocean air… and definitely a few pastel de natas. Basel to Ericeira: 2,100 km in a 1998 Rav4 stuffed to cartoon proportions — roof box bigger than the car, four bikes hanging off the back, four humans squeezed inside. Everything held up… until the clutch gave up at km 1,800.
