This is Nirvana's rehearsal on January 3rd of 1988 at Dale Crover's house at 609 West 2nd Street, Aberdeen, Washington. It is the first of multiple practices held at the location in preparation for their studio session at Reciprocal Recording on the 23rd, known as the "Dale Demo". The full session has been remastered to be heard as clearly as possible. SETLIST: 00:00 - Love Buzz (Shocking Blue Cover) 03:25 - If You Must 07:14 - Downer 09:16 - Pen Cap Chew 13:51 - Mexican Seafood 15:45 - Spank Thru 19:17 - Paper Cuts 23:26 - Erectum 26:04 - Aero Zeppelin 30:16 - Hairspray Queen 35:01 - Floyd the Barber 37:11 - Annorexorcist 39:53 - Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves (Cher Cover) INFO + SOURCES: All tracks sourced from AUD#1. "Love Buzz" and "If You Must" cut in. Kurt later grew to dislike "If You Must", so it was therefore discarded sometime during the cut-off of drummer Dave Foster, never to be played live with his successor, Chad Channing. "Annorexorcist" originates from at least 1986, where it was recorded by Kurt Cobain, Greg Hokanson, and Dale Crover for the "Fecal Matter" project, and circulated on their self-published demo tape titled "Illiteracy Will Prevail". That tape was more so a taster of Cobain's musical style, which ended up drawing in fellow Aberdeen resident, Krist Novoselic, a young Croatian man who played bass. Later, during the build-up to Nirvana's "Bleach", "Annorexorcist" became "Negative Creep". "Erectum" was only played live roughly 3 times. 2 of which are in wide circulation under the title of "Raunchola", both in official and unofficial nature. "Raunchola" comes from a description by bassist Krist Novoselic, describing the song as "really, really raunchy". However, as found in Kurt Cobain's journals, the real title is "Erectum". At the very end of "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves", someone can be heard announcing to the band that dinner is ready.
