Christy Carlson Romano Reveals Why She Tried Scientology in Her Search for God

Christy Carlson Romano says her search for a sense of belonging led her to explore several religions, including a brief period practicing Scientology, as she tried to find a deeper connection with God. During an October 8 appearance on Tish and Brandi Cyrus’ Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast, the 42-year-old Even Stevens alum reflected on how she looked for community through relationships and different spiritual paths. “What I was trying to do was find community within me,” Romano explained. She recalled exploring Buddhism, Scientology and Catholicism while searching for answers. “If it wasn’t in men, I would try, I tried Buddhism, Scientology, and you know, back to Catholicism or whatever it is,” she said. “Like, I’ve tried so many different things to just sort of find God.” Now, Romano says she wants her own children to develop a strong understanding of themselves rather than depend entirely on outside relationships or communities for a sense of identity.
