coulou's trumpet meditations album - crystal bonsai tree [garden listening session]

ok first things first, finalllllly after so many months and moons and seasons - we have VINYL!!!! and SHIRTS!!!!!!!!!!!! my friends wow this took way too long but i swear everything has come out so beautifully and i am so happy i finally get to start shipping these out to you all. here is the link !! https://coulou-shop.fourthwall.com/ exciting upcoming news is i am about to embark on a solo tour in China in a few weeks, so I'll be posting those show locations and dates very soon for anyone who is living in the cities i will be playing in. Sooo all this music is from my album "crystal bonsai tree" that was released a few months ago. all these songs were recorded in my home studio space, but instead of doing a live single session like usual i took my time building on one instrument/sound at a time. i first sat for nine hours recording the bones of the project, straight through in one session connecting each piece together so i could really intentionally move through the feelings of each sonic space. i then spent the next few months diving into the details of the trumpet performance, the harmonies, the backgrounds and ambient textures. the goal was to follow a thread of feeling that brought me into a space of deep comfort, a world of both familiarity and novelty. because this was all recorded part by part, there was no way to film it like usual, but of course i still needed to figure out how to bring this project into the youtube universe. soooo i thought recording myself doing my most meditative activity would be the best possible match for the music. this right here is the community garden in my neighborhood and it has been my anchor this year. everyday since the weather become warm enough to start planting seeds, i've come down here to tend to the garden. there are several different beds that neighbors on the block plant vegetables in as well as a fish pond towards the back that we made earlier this year that has been thriving. no piece of fancy technology has ever come close to blowing my mind in the way that watching a seed + water turn into food and flowers. each seed has an entire code of growth, using water and sunlight to sprout and flower. put your iphone in some dirt and add water, you won't be impressed (though you might feel less anxious). all to say, i am sosososo grateful for this space and it has been a joy and a privilege to be able to tend to such an important sanctuary. ok, back to preparing for this tour. i hope you can get a shirt or vinly ! very excited to be sharing that with you all, and if people seem to like it we can make more! and new other fun creations too. sending love to each and every one of you, make sure to tell someone you love them today if you get the chance. lovelovelovelovelovelove, coulou
