Hockinson Hillbillies Utah BDR 2026 Episode 1

The Hockinson Hillbillies take on the Utah Backcountry Discovery Route! On September 9 a group of us left Vancouver, Washington, for 10 days of riding: three days down to the start of the Utah BDR near Monument Valley, the whole route north toward Idaho, and the long ride home. Episode 1 is the ride in and our first day on the dirt. We crossed Washington, Oregon and Idaho (about 1,200 miles in three days), stopped at the Maryhill Stonehenge and Hole N" The Rock, and rolled past the Goosenecks, Mexican Hat and Forrest Gump Point to Goulding's Lodge in Monument Valley. Then it was time for the Utah BDR: Valley of the Gods, the Moki Dugway switchbacks, deep sand, one wreck, and a climb into the Abajo Mountains to camp at Buckboard.
