SPOKES AND RIMS - BMW AIRHEAD R60/5

In this video, I'll share with you how to remove spokes from a wheel assembly and how to polish an outer aluminum rim. Before I'm able to reassemble this rim with new spokes and nipples, it's important that I disassemble the old components correctly. This involves removing the nipples evenly around the perimeter of the wheel, so the rim does not get damaged. If you decide to do this yourself, I highly recommend you purchase a proper spoke wrench tool! Once the spokes and nipples are removed I can look forward to reconditioning the hub and the rim itself. Since the rim is made of aluminum, I can easily sand and polish out the blemishes from the past 50 years. Both rims are still in very good condition and I'm very with the overall condition. To remove the scratches I will sand with 220-Grit all the way down to 1000grit. Once the surface is even and scuffed all the way around I will start to use the bench buffer I picked up at princess auto. With different polishing compounds ranging from coarse to fine, I have the ability to achieve a mirror-like finish! Stay tuned until the end to view the results!!
