In 2004, Mount St. Helens woke up again, and this time it didn't explode. It grew. For more than three years, solid rock rose out of the crater floor at up to ten cubic meters every second, quietly rebuilding the mountain that blew itself apart in 1980.
This documentary follows the 2004–2008 eruption day by day: the eighteen days of unrest, the whaleback spine, the mysterious "drumbeat" earthquakes, the instruments the volcano kept destroying, and the glacier that refused to melt. Why was it so quiet, why did it stop, and will Mount St. Helens keep growing back?
