Haram Kim plays Enescu Violin Sonata No. 3 'dans le caractère populaire roumain'

As Enescu’s birthday is coming near, I wanted to bring back my video of his 3rd Violin Sonata, dans le caractère populaire roumain “in Romanian Folk Style.” The full video is available on my YouTube channel and Facebook page! This sonata is one of the most interesting and unusual works written for violin and piano. It is full of fragments, sudden changes, and extreme folk dance elements that make the music feel very alive and unpredictable. What makes this piece so special is that it asks for a completely different kind of violin playing from the traditional style. Sometimes the sound has to be rough, raw, close to real folk fiddling. Without that character, the music does not fully speak as Enescu’s language here is very different.
