Interactive Map and Gear List: https://linktr.ee/simplyhiking Rain... forest... RAINFOREST! What are the chances? I walked in a rainforest and it rained. I hope you enjoy the sound of rain on an umbrella, splashing puddles and flowing streams because this hike turned out to be quite wet! A bit of water got into the lens right at the end so i had to edit out me wiping the fog from the lens. This is a temperate rainforest in the central west of Tasmania on the trail to Montezuma's falls which is the great short walk number 27 of 60. The trail follows an abandoned tramline from the 1800s and leads 4km down to the base of Montezuma's falls. At 104m this waterfall is one of the highest in Tasmania and the bridge at its base is an exciting surprise for all those hikers who walked to the bottom. Watch out though, the bridge is barely wide enough for your foot and is very bouncy! Not for the faint of heart! It rained a few times during this hike so you might hear me struggling to open and close the umbrella with one hand behind the camera. There's some amazing sounds in this rainforest including the small streams that cross the track, the sound of the rain on the umbrella, the black cockatoos and the rush of the huge waterfall at the end. It was a wet day, it rained on and off, and after I walked back to the trailhead I was quite tired. But, I enjoyed this little trip so much and I hope you can enjoy this video of the adventure too. Walking in a rainforest when it's raining is a fantastic experience and I can't recommend it enough (be prepared!). Do you like hiking in the rain? Have you ever walked in a rainforest as it rained? I'd love to know in the comments below. Here's some more information from the park.tas.gove.au website: "You might expect a waterfall named after a powerful Aztec emperor to be grand, and in this case you’d be right. This walk follows a former tramway through wet, steep, thickly forested west coast country to one of the highest falls in Tasmania. It’s amazing to ponder how they ever built a tramway here. The track eventually comes right to the base of the 104m high falls, and to a bridge that offers great views back to the falls, and out to the wild western rainforests. Return via the same track. Walking from Williamsford, the track is almost entirely through pleasant and open park-like rainforest. This includes leatherwood, myrtle, sassafras, giant tree ferns and eye-catching fungi. You’re sure to get close to several different birds along the way, notably White’s thrush, which is a medium-sized, speckled brown and white ground dwelling bird. It forages quietly on the rainforest floor and, when disturbed, flies only a short distance before settling again, enabling you to get a second look." #60greatshortwalksoftasmania #virtualtour #rainforestsounds If you liked this video you might be interested in my other playlists: 👉Treadmill Videos For Walking:    • Treadmill Videos For Walking   👉Tasmanian Hikes:    • Tasmanian Hikes   👉Queensland Hikes:    • Queensland Hikes   👉Beautiful Natural Scenery Videos:    • Beautiful Natural Scenery Videos   Let me know in the comments if you would like more of these static scenes and if you would like them longer.
