Levko Kolodub (1930-2019) Turiivski Songs Kyiv Camerata Keri-Lynn Wilson, conductor Live performance May 26, 2026 National Philharmonic Hall of Kyiv Ukrainian composer Levko Kolodub (1930-2019) was a prolific composer and educator who played a prominent role in shaping 20th-century music of Ukraine. Over his decades-long career, he served as the head of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine and was awarded the prestigious Shevchenko National Prize. Inspired by Ukrainian folklore, his compositions are celebrated for their colorful orchestrations and rich narrative style. This riveting final passage of Ukrainian composer Levko Kolodub’s catchy Turiivski Songs was the finale to our Kyiv Camerata concert in May, performed in Kyiv between air attacks. The Kyiv Camerata’s mission is to premiere the works of Ukrainian composers, including the rediscovery of this forgotten work by Kolodub, who died in 2019. It’s a welcome addition to our repertoire!
