BR 70022 'Tornado' with the Pembroke Coast Express | 29.07.2020

It's been a very long 5 months, itching to get back behind the video camera... BR Standard 7MT no. 70000 'Britannia', running in the guise of long-lost classmate 70022 'Tornado', is seen at the head of Saphos Trains' 'The Pembroke Coast Express' which would run from Bristol Temple Meads to Carmarthen and return, on July 29 2020. The train is seen firstly on the Down leg, powering away from Bristol and toward Filton Abbey Wood on the recently installed Down Main, with Class 47 D1944 'Roger Hosking' on the rear idling away. Following this, 'Tornado' powers up the final stretch of Stormy Bank on the approach to Llanharan, before eventually reaching the Cefn Padrig Bay, where the Brit is seen galloping along the River Loughbor wall at Pwll. We start with the Up leg at St Ishmael near Ferryside, with the train running about 10 minutes late making it's way along the sewall once again and with the tide heading out. Lastly, following a late running TfW service, 'Britannia' begins the Eastern ascent of Stormy Bank shortly after passing through Pyle making all the right noises, and no helping hand from the Spoon on the rear.
