The making of an Easter egg: Inside the Butlers chocolate factory at Easter

With the cherry blossoms in bloom and the sun shining down, it is one of the busiest times of year at the Butlers Chocolate factory in Coolock's Clonshaugh Business and Technology Park. Springtime means Easter is coming, and Easter means plenty of chocolate on the way to households across the country. At first, the Butlers factory floor looks industrial, with a mechanical hum whirring in the background. But in amongst it all, there is magic being worked straight out of a Roald Dahl novel, minus the Oompa-Loompas. The team of Butlers chocolatiers are hard at work. One member of staff meticulously places almonds on each individual treat before it goes through to be enrobed in white chocolate. Another spreads chocolate flakes over spheres of milk chocolate.
