This is the all-new Volvo EX90! Volvo’s biggest and most advanced electric SUV yet, designed to take on some of the biggest luxury EVs on the market. The EX90 is essentially Volvo’s electric flagship SUV, combining a huge battery, seven-seat practicality, futuristic technology and Volvo’s famous focus on safety. But with a starting price well into luxury-car territory, is this really the ultimate electric family SUV? Let’s take a closer look. Starting at the front, the EX90 immediately stands out with its completely closed-off grille, sharp LED headlights and Volvo’s signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ daytime running lights. The lights even open up to reveal the main headlights, giving the front end a seriously futuristic look. Moving around to the side, you get flush door handles, large aerodynamic wheels and a very clean body design. But one of the most noticeable features is sitting right on top of the roof — the LiDAR sensor, which helps the EX90 scan the road ahead and improve its advanced driver-assistance systems. At the back, Volvo has gone for a modern interpretation of its traditional design, with tall vertical taillights and a very clean rear end. There’s no exhaust, of course, because this is fully electric. And being Volvo’s flagship electric SUV, the EX90 certainly isn’t short on performance. Depending on the version, you can get up to around 517 horsepower and a huge 910 Nm of torque, sent through all four wheels. Volvo claims 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. And remember, this thing weighs over 2.8 tonnes. Inside, the EX90 feels like a completely different generation of Volvo. You get a huge 14.5-inch central touchscreen, a minimalist dashboard, premium materials and plenty of space for up to seven people. There’s also a panoramic glass roof, advanced ambient lighting and an incredible Bowers & Wilkins sound system, making this feel much more like a luxury lounge than a traditional family SUV. And because this is an EV, there’s no engine noise or exhaust — just instant electric power and a seriously smooth driving experience.
