After a year's absence, a return to the South Downs for this walker and this 11.2 miles was on some new terrain in places. Undertaken on a breezy (hasn't affected commentary too badly), but mainly sunny afternoon, with temperatures in the mid/upper teens, depending on the height. This walk has a number of options, but this version does the 'Fore Hill', lower route, in reverse, as the intended lunch stop was St Laurence church, Telscombe. However, an unoccupied bench just outside the village provided a more conveniently located alternative as it was on the GPX track. The recommended pub stop in Peacehaven is reached about 20 minutes later for those preferring that option. The GMT Meridian Marker (the start of the GMT Trail) is passed in Peacehaven, along with a new Centenary Park. Thereafter, it's some quiet lanes prior to following the River Ouse embankment back to Southease station. A rare (for this area), round-towered church, St Peter's, is passed early on in Southease. A wonderful, peaceful walk that provides the variety of downland, coast and river. No issues with paths today, but still no Cuckoo. P.S. The black-faced sheep are believed to be 'Suffolks'.
