FCSB = STEAUA?? I Visited BOTH to Find Out

FCSB or Steaua București… who is the REAL Steaua? 🤯 Romanian football has given me some incredible experiences, but this might be the most confusing football story I’ve encountered yet. I started at the Arena Națională watching FCSB – the club that plays in Romania’s top division, wins trophies and competes in Europe. For years, this was the team most people outside Romania simply knew as Steaua Bucharest. But then things get complicated. The Steaua name, the famous badge, the history, the European Cup… court cases, ownership disputes and one enormous argument over who actually represents the legendary club founded in 1947. So there was only one thing to do. One week later, I headed to Stadionul Steaua in Ghencea to watch CSA Steaua București take on Gloria Bistrița – and discover a completely different side of the story. Two clubs. Two stadiums. Two sets of supporters. And one football history they both claim a connection to. In this video, I experience both sides for myself, speak to supporters and try to understand one of the strangest and most complicated identity disputes in European football.
