NCLT has approved Zee Group founder Subhash Chandra’s personal insolvency repayment plan: ₹6.25 crore to creditors + ₹25 lakh process cost = ₹6.5 crore against admitted claims of about ₹22,006.57 crore. Recovery works out to roughly 0.03%. LIC Housing Finance’s admitted claim of ₹1,322.39 crore is slated to get about ₹38.09 lakh. This is not a simple personal loan write-off. The case started with Indiabulls Housing Finance (now Sammaan Capital) over a ~₹170 crore loan to Vivek Infracon where Chandra stood as personal guarantor. After admission in April 2024, other Essel/Zee-linked guarantee claims piled into the same Section 95 IBC process. Creditors with 80.814% voting share backed the plan; objectors with ~19.186% — including LIC HF, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Canara Bank, RBL Bank, IndusInd Bank, Union Bank of India and IDBI Trusteeship — are still bound once the plan is approved under Sections 114–115.
