Pain after hernia surgery. The whole experience left me disheartened and disillusioned. They said that in 6 weeks it would be better. It was. Then it got worse. Then it got better. Repeat. On June 16th I had surgery for my latest round of health issues. A hernia I had operated on in my 20's came back, plus another one to boot! I'm 62. I was told just don't lift over 15 lbs for a few weeks and I'd be good to go. I haven't lifted over 15 lbs yet at all. The pain kept coming back every time I did a little yard work or just knelt to pump a tire or plant my tomatoes. Swelling stayed quite a while and I believe there's still some moderate(?) swelling way down yonder. It was all good at my 6 week check in. There's no sign of infection or really sharp pain. Just deep soreness at times. At about 10 weeks I had mysterious chills, aches and night sweats that lasted about 3 days. I've been good for several days now as long as I do NOTHING. Just walk, sit and sleep. I'm holding off til the 14th week to call the surgeon if things don't keep improving. I've got a feeling this is going to take longer than I expected.
