Topin Ete Defends ECI, SIR Exercise BJP spokesperson rejects Congress allegations, says electoral roll revision follows constitutional and legal procedures Itanagar: BJP Arunachal Pradesh spokesperson Topin Ete on Saturday defended the Election Commission of India (ECI), Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, rejecting allegations of bias and mass deletion of genuine voters. Addressing a press briefing, Ete said the ECI functions under Article 324 of the Constitution and follows established legal and institutional procedures. He said differences of opinion during internal deliberations were part of the normal functioning of a multi-member constitutional body and should not be interpreted as a lack of consensus. On SIR, Ete said electoral roll revision was a regular and legally mandated process aimed at identifying discrepancies, including deaths, migration and untraceable voters. He stressed that eligible citizens whose names are missing can still apply for inclusion through the prescribed process. Ete also highlighted the participation of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties, including the Congress and BJP, during the revision exercise. Questioning allegations that the ECI favours the BJP, Ete cited election victories by opposition parties in several states and said such results demonstrated the continuation of electoral competition. He urged political parties to raise electoral concerns based on official records and understand the procedures governing electoral rolls. #TopinEte #BJP #ArunachalPradesh #ECI #ElectionCommission #SIR #ElectoralRoll #GyaneshKumar #Politics #Itanagar
