I’m Turning a Losi NASCAR Into a VTA Race Car!

We’re turning a Losi NASCAR into a VTA-inspired race car — and it’s finally starting to look the part. 🏁 In this episode of the Losi NASCAR VTA build, I’m working through three of the biggest pieces of the transformation: bodywork, shocks, and tires. The idea behind this project is to take the affordable and incredibly fun Losi NASCAR platform and see what we can create by giving it a Vintage Trans-Am-inspired setup and appearance. This isn’t just about making the car look different—we’re building it with the intention of getting it on the track and seeing how the platform actually performs. In this part of the build, we’re tackling: 🔧 Bodywork — fitting and preparing the new body and getting the VTA look to come together. 🛠️ Shocks — working through the suspension setup and getting the car prepared for the different demands of an on-road/VTA-style setup. 🛞 Tires — getting the new rubber mounted and seeing how the wheel and tire combination changes both the appearance and stance of the car. One of the things I love about projects like this is experimenting with a platform that wasn’t necessarily designed for what we’re asking it to do. Can a Losi NASCAR actually make a fun, capable VTA-style car? That’s what we’re going to find out. There’s still more work—and plenty of testing—ahead before we know how well this experiment actually works. Once the build is together, we’ll get it on the track, start tuning, and see what this thing can really do.
