79 Minutes of Confident, Sassy R&B & Neo-Soul for Getting Ready to Go Out

Confident, sassy R&B and neo-soul, 79 minutes of nonstop groove Powerful female vocals, warm Rhodes and a bouncy 78 BPM head-nod pocket Perfect for getting ready, evening drives, cleaning day or a solo night in This is a full hour-plus of contemporary R&B and neo-soul built on one steady, head-nodding 78 BPM pocket. Every song rides on a punchy kick, a snappy rimshot on 2 and 4, and swung, crisp hi-hats, while a deep sub bass bounces right along with the kick. On top of that, Rhodes electric piano and acoustic piano chords sit inside lush synth pads, so the whole set feels warm and roomy without ever getting sleepy. The women singing here mean every word. On some songs the lead stays in a low, dark register, half talk-singing and crooning in long phrases before she lets loose with a belt. On others she's up high, light and clipped, snapping off staccato lines. A few go from hushed, close-mic verses to big top notes. Stacked harmonies and call-and-response backing vocals lift the choruses, and here and there you'll catch gospel-style choir answers, snapping finger clicks, or a wah-tinged guitar trading licks with the Rhodes during a break. Put it all together and the mood is self-assured and a little sassy, the sound of someone setting her boundaries and having a good time doing it. Play it while you're doing your makeup, on the drive to meet friends, or any night you want music that makes you stand up a little straighter. 🎵 Tracklist & Timestamps 00:00 Not Asking Twice 04:29 Read the Room 08:47 Velvet No 14:42 Keys on the Counter 18:54 Off the Guest List 23:02 My Name Ain't Maybe 26:31 Price Went Up 30:13 Return to Sender 35:00 Closing Time on You 39:47 Boundary Line 44:05 Door Swings One Way 48:38 Not on My Clock 52:17 Receipts in My Purse 55:35 Cash Out Your Chances 1:00:06 Lights Off at Midnight 1:03:43 Too Late to Knock 1:07:55 My Own Weather 1:12:36 Lipstick Signature If this one put a little extra swagger in your step, leave a like and subscribe so you'll catch the next set when it drops.
