2012 Mercedes S550 W221 M278 – Plug Wire Forensics 9/7/2024 When I changed the plugs on my Mercedes, I had a heck of a time getting the plug wires off the plugs. And that’s being polite. So, after I got it apart, I did some problem solving and analysis to see what the heck was going on. I sectioned the plug and coil boots to see what was inside of them. And I played with the dielectric grease to see how much I needed to put on the wires at assembly. The “wire” is not a wire at all. It’s a solid aluminum rod with two springs. This review helped me to install the plugs and wires, and I hope it helps you understand why they are hard to get off. I bought my replacement “wires” from RockAuto.
