At the same time, Pearl is eager to elevate the family’s social standing and get them into high society. Meanwhile, Margaret informs Milburn that Mrs. Priscilla Smith-Standish (Rosemary DeCamp), the head of a prominent historical society tracing “first families,” will be staying at their house. Drysdale isn’t particularly impressed, but Margaret becomes determined to ensure the Clampetts don’t embarrass her during Priscilla’s visit. She heads to the Clampett mansion and insults Granny, prompting both Granny and Pearl to chase her off their property. Unbeknownst to Margaret, Priscilla becomes fascinated by the Clampetts’ antiques and their old-fashioned way of life when she arrives at their mansion instead. Margaret later storms into the bank, furious, and demands Drysdale remove the Clampetts after what she endured. Miss Jane explains that the chauffeur dropped Priscilla off at the Clampetts by mistake, assuming Margaret was there. Miss Jane then drives the Drysdales to the Clampett home, where Priscilla surprises everyone by revealing evidence that Jed’s ancestors arrived in America before the Mayflower. Delighted, Priscilla insists Margaret assist Granny with traditional chores, much to Margaret’s dismay. Drysdale, thoroughly amused, enjoys watching his wife grapple with the old-fashioned lifestyle she so desperately wanted to avoid.
