May 15, 1989. A Las Vegas newscast puts a man in silhouette on live television, and he says the government is testing nine flying saucers near Area 51. In November, reporter George Knapp reveals his name: Bob Lazar. He describes a hangar cut into a hillside at a place called S-4, a "sport model" saucer with little chairs inside, an antimatter reactor running on an element that didn't exist yet, and a job as a physicist with degrees from MIT and Caltech. One polygrapher calls him inconclusive. A second says "no attempt to deceive." Los Alamos says it has no record of him, and a 1982 lab phone book proves it does. Then the phone book says what he actually was.
Red has nine saucers, a passed polygraph, a time-stamped home video of a light over Papoose Lake, and a W-2 from the "United States Department of Naval Intelligence." Frank has the phone book's small print, MIT's lawyers, a 1969 issue of Scientific American, a 1977 Spielberg movie, and the Air Force's own court filings. Seventeen real soundbites: the 1989 "Dennis" interview, Lazar on the sport model, the little chairs and "magic," the home video, Ron Slay's polygraph question, Terry Tavernetti in 2020, George Knapp in 1989 and again in 1990 when Los Alamos changed its story, Lazar's "they're trying to make me a non-person," Stanton Friedman on the degrees, Mick West on the hand scanner, Lazar's own account of Edward Teller, Teller himself telling Knapp "I will sit silent," the Navy's reply, Larry King in 2019, and Knapp's "Yeah, I do."
Verdicts: 2 CONFIRMED / 3 DRAWER OF SHAME / 1 PENDING.
Bob Lazar is a living person. This episode treats his claims as unverified or contradicted by public records, and quotes him in his own words.
