FNAFtale (William Afton Fight) - FULL GAME

Yes, you read that title correctly. This is a Fnaf and UT crossover fan game that explores what a Fnaf themed fight in UT would be like. The answer is probably one of the most creative UT fan fights I've ever seen. The fight is somewhat inspired off the Chapter 4 fight against the Mikes in DR, only it takes the concept MUCH further where you control a mini soul as a mouse to interact with attacks while simultaneously having to dodge incoming attacks with your main soul using WASD. This combo of mechanics alongside many attacks that target both your main soul and cursor soul turns the entire fight into a point-and-click panic inducing bullet hell, fitting for a Fnaf and UT crossover game. Learning how to progress in this fight is basically solving a massive puzzle, as you need to use the call ACT in order to know what to do during each of the fight's 4 phases. The first 2 times the ACT is used in any phase of the fight only gets you a vague hint, while the 3rd time the ACT is used outright tells you what to do. Firstly, you select cameras in a specific order to spell out 395248 during an office segment, then locate a purple heart inside of a tile for the breakout attack, bypass a wall of saw blades by actually pressing ALT + TAB on your PC to move your cursor to the bottom left corner of your screen, then press ALT + TAB again to interact with Shadow Freddy when you to return to the game window, and finally finding 4 phantom cupcakes scattered across a couple cameras during the last office segment. The whole process of knowing how to progress in this fight reminded me of trying to get the good ending in Fnaf 3, only significantly less convoluted and structured in a way that you feel smart for figuring things out. In terms of writing, the only gripe I have is that Toriel in the intro uses a couple contractions in her dialogue, when her speech gimmick is that she doesn't use any. Aside from that, the writing of this fan game is basically spotless. I found the way this fan game incorporated the lore of both franchises to be very smart, especially for justifying William's motivations and why he'd be attacking Frisk in the first place. The reinterpretation this fan game does with the Fnaf Movie's "Torture Freddy Machine" as William's own rendition of the DT Extractor which implies he took notes from Alphys' research that she likely shared with the surface after the events of UT's pacifist route I thought was really cool and very smart writing wise. William Afton in the lore of the Fnaf games partially committed as many murders as he did in order to discover immortality, so the fact that in this UT crossover scenario he ends up researching DT based on Alphys' findings and using that knowledge for his own goals is very in-character and makes a lot of sense. As for the gameplay itself, I found it to be very fun, but also VERY hard, especially during phases 3 and 4 with having to both keep a track on the main soul and cursor soul to avoid all damage. The concept and mechanics this fight experiments with are really cool, but I do think a couple of the attacks do need to be nerfed a bit, especially for folks who want to do challenge runs. The breakout attacks alongside many of the attacks requiring you to dodge with both the main soul and cursor soul should probably be re-balanced. I'd love to do a challenge run of this game at some point, but preferably in an update that balances things. Highly encourage y'all to check this fan game out for yourselves!
