Building a House | Ep. 3 - "Plumb & Line + Sheathing"

In this series, we frame a house from the ground up. A two-story home with a roof deck and a 2 car garage! You'll get to see how we operate as a 2 person crew, and how we tackle things like trusses and floor joist with a limited number of people! In this episode, we tighten up all of our corners, making sure our walls are nailed to eachother through the "u" channels. Nail off our top plate, get a few missing 4x6" trimmers in, and start on plumb and line.. If you have any questions on plumb and line, feel free to ask! I show a few techniques we use, such as the Push Stick, Which Way to Brace, etc.. This episode will probably be one of the least exciting, so for that, I apologize.. The fun starts when the floor does! Fast forward a day later, we did all the exterior shear paneling around the whole building. 15/32" 4x9' sheets of OSB, nailed with 10d's at 6/12. 6/12 is our nail pattern, 6" around the perimeter of the sheet, 12" "in the field' on the studs. Remember, mark your pipes before you start sheathing.. The last thing you want to do is shoot a nail through one! Ep. 4 will be out on Monday. Stay tuned!
