Syracuse vs. UMass lacrosse 1989

I like to think that famed UMass coach Dick Garber left the field sprinklers on the day before the match, intentionally turning the field into a swamp to slow down the Syracuse offense. UMass has so many great players on this team, including two future Team USA members in Tim Soudan and the great Sal LoCascio. They left it all on the field for this one. This is the only game I've ever seen where Gary Gait lost his temper and both shove one player, and slash another. This was a tough, and often frustrating game in some really soupy, muddy conditions. (The game was played in Amherst after a bunch of rain...Garber, sadly, didn't water the field himself). A huge crowd of 12,000+ got to enjoy this one.
