A talk by Dr Anne Musser on biodiversity at Jenolan Caves. Dr Anne Musser is the Conservation and Campaigns Officer at Jenolan Caves, with a strong scientific background in ecology and palaeontology. She holds a Bachelor of Science from San Jose State University, a Master’s Degree in Systematics and Ecology from the University of Kansas, a PhD in Palaeontology from the University of New South Wales and was a Fulbright Scholar. Anne draws on her research and field experience to communicate Jenolan’s conservation values, translating complex science into clear, engaging stories that connect people with the site’s natural and cultural heritage. Anne is also an avid photographer. Anne has worked at Jenolan for over 17 years, and over that time has developed a unique understanding of Jenolan's rich biodiversity both past and present. Perhaps surprisingly for such a well-known site, much is still to be discovered at Jenolan, and Anne will be sharing her insights and observations. A primary area of interest is the resident platypus population at Jenolan; together with team members from the University of New South Wales, DCCEEW, Western Sydney University and Charles Sturt University, Anne is working towards an understanding of this very special species at Jenolan and ways that we can protect and conserve it into the future. This talk was part of the National Science Week 2026 event "Science in Oberon: More than you imagine! " on 15 August 2026, hosted at the fabulous 1937 Malachi Gilmore Hall in Oberon by the Oberon Citizen Science Network (OCSN).
