After this episode, you’ll be able to talk about your first payslip in French: ask what a line means, understand brut and net, and point out a possible mistake.
This is 12 short French conversations at A1-A2, spoken slowly by two voices, with every French sentence on screen, so it works for focused listening, for reading along, or in the background.
This episode is for A1-A2 learners who understand more French than they can actively say. If payslips, salary transfers, missing hours or confusing deductions feel hard to talk about, these dialogues help you hear the phrases real people use without turning practice into a grammar lesson.
🎧 In this episode, you'll practise:
• “Quelle ligne te gêne exactement ?” — asking which line is causing the problem
• “Le brut, c’est le total.” — explaining gross pay simply
• “Il manque cent euros.” — saying that money seems to be missing
• “Ça ne colle pas.” — reacting when the numbers do not match
• “Tu verras une ligne.” — explaining where to look on the payslip
• “Ce n’est pas nous.” — understanding that the company is not the source of a tax line
• “Il faut contester par écrit.” — saying what to do when a deduction needs a formal complaint
• “On va corriger ça.” — hearing how HR responds when extra hours were not paid
• “Une avance sur salaire.” — understanding what an acompte means on a payslip
The episode is built around a very common beginner problem: getting your first French payslip and not knowing what the important lines mean. You hear how to ask for help, how someone explains brut, net and virement in simple words, and how these terms connect to the money you actually receive.
Keep listening for the later conversation where Omar learns that his overtime will be corrected next month and that “Un acompte est possible.”
📝 How to learn more from this episode:
• First, listen once without stopping and try to follow the situation: who is confused, who explains, and what the problem is.
• On the second listen, pause after useful lines like “Je ne comprends pas.” or “Il manque six heures.” and repeat them aloud with the same rhythm.
• Pick three sentences that fit your life now — for example about gross pay, net pay, or a missing line — and say them today as if you were speaking to HR.
• Come back tomorrow and listen again: these work phrases become much easier to use after a second and third pass.
Français à l'oreille exists to help as many learners as possible actually speak French in everyday life, not only follow it when others speak.
💬 Your turn: finish this sentence in French: “Je ne comprends pas…” What line or word on a payslip would you add?
