For most of human history, people crossed oceans, deserts, and entire continents using nothing but memory, the stars, and natural signs, with zero instruments. This video looks at traditional Pacific wayfinding, Viking sunstone navigation, and desert caravan routes, then compares it to what recent neuroscience shows is happening to the human brain's own built-in navigation system now that GPS does that job for us.
