How to make 3d printer filament from PET Bottle

I bought a Creality Ender 3 3D printer back in 2024, used it for a while… and then it ended up collecting dust. So I decided to try something crazy: can I make my own 3D printer filament from old plastic bottles? In this video, I build a homemade plastic bottle strip cutter using a piece of wood, a metal rod, an old cutter blade, screws and a few simple parts. After a few failed attempts and modifications, the DIY bottle cutter finally starts producing a smooth, continuous plastic strip. Then comes the interesting part — I try feeding the plastic strip through a hot glue gun to turn the flat strip into round filament. And surprisingly… it actually works! But there's a problem. The filament needs to be pulled at a constant speed, and if it's pulled too quickly, it develops a nasty fold that won't pass through the 3D printer. So now I have two challenges to solve: 1. Build an automatic mechanism to pull the filament at a constant speed. 2. Find a way to remove or prevent those unwanted folds. This is only Part 1 of the experiment.
