Luna Rossa sailed three sessions in Cagliari on Thursday, working through upwind and downwind legs, tacks, gybes and pre-start routines before an issue around the jib track and rudder area ended the day early. M2-1 was paired first with J2-1, then J3-1 as the sea breeze increased. The day also saw the newest mainsheeting system in use, alongside a modified rudder leading edge and additional onboard cameras.
The first session featured longer foiling boards, warm-up manoeuvres and increasingly tight pre-start work. With flatter water and steadier pressure, manoeuvres appeared more composed than the previous day. In the second session, the boat briefly dropped hullborne after an apparent rudder stall before returning to foiling and continuing with tacks and gybes. The final session ended after the crew stopped to inspect the jib track and rudder bearing area, with a diver deployed for further checks. No visible damage was seen at crane-out.
