When your bmw abs light comes on it can be a nightmare. Thoughts cross your mind - can it be something serious? Usually it can be nothing more than corrosion and worn parts. Occasionally bigger things that cost more money can fail but on the good old e90 series bmw the reluctor rings swell up and close up the air gap to the abs wheel speed sensor. This has the effect of killing the signal from the sensor as any sensor requires a precise air gap in order to function correctly. Join me in my very first "virtual garage" as you learn how straightforward it is to replace the driveshaft abs reluctor ring instead of paying an arm and a leg for a new driveshaft.
