I flew one of the last Spirit airlines flights ever

I don't typically fly. But when I do, I chose Spirit. Chose. Past tense. Because 1 week after I filmed this video, Spirit Airlines ceased operations after 34 years — the first major US airline to fold for financial reasons in a quarter century. This was supposed to be a video defending Spirit. A principled economic case for the bare fare in an economy where everything else costs $40. I had a thesis. I had a bag-fee gamble. Then the airline went out of business while I was editing. So this is what you get instead: an accidental time capsule. One of the last people to fly Spirit, holding a boarding pass that no longer means anything, in an airport that no longer prints them. Rest in peace, Spirit Airlines. 1992–2026.
