Revised to take advantage of the 8K recording. Why record in 8K? Even I don't have an 8K monitor. The reason is the ability to zoom in 4x later during editing while maintaining full 4K details. This video demonstrates this as you can see the runners much closer up. Now why didn't I just put up a zoom lens 50-200mm and zoom while I'm riding? It's called "workload saturation" as I'm
1. riding the bike
2. looking at the road (and briefly at the monitor)
3. checking auto focus (briefly)
4. checking camera angle and adjusting with the joystick.
Add in a zoom controller and then I would be overloaded. In 3 XC seasons, no issues or accidents even on the full Mt.SAC course.
This video was rendered in ProRes resulting in a 250 gig file. Hope Youtube doesn't compress it too much.
Coolest visual is at 4:39 moving on the walkway. Dylan the King took the lead at 13:13 (800m to go) but Justin the Nomad from Nevada made a move at 14:20 (200m to go) for the crown.

The Boys' race by far was the most exciting of filming cross country races for me in 3 years of bikecam filming. This was because of so many of the changes in the leaders!
This type of shot cannot be done without the bikecam. May be this is why parents keep hearing the cheers for "PoMan". I’m grateful for all the cheering … that’s what motivates me to continue to push the boundary of what is possible … just like you in XC.
Note that the flashes (from dark to light and back) were the result of my lens aperture blade control motor being damaged by all the constant vibrations and shocks of filming on this course. Note to self: don't use Zeiss 55 mm f1.8 even though the images are beautiful.
