Friends, on this Thursday morning, I want you to stop for a moment. Just stop. Set down whatever you are carrying, because I believe someone here is tired in a way that sleep has never fixed.
You came in with a storm. Maybe it’s the bills that will not wait, the diagnosis that will not leave, the child who will not call, or the fear that wakes you at three in the morning and will not let you go. You have tried to reason with it, outwork it, and outrun it. Yet the greatest storm of all is not the one raging around you. It’s the one raging within you.
Now listen to me carefully. Two thousand years ago, a small boat was tossed about on the Sea of Galilee. The waves were breaking over the sides, and seasoned fishermen were certain they would die. And where was Jesus? Asleep. Resting in the middle of the storm. He rose, spoke three words, “Peace, be still,” and the wind and the waves obeyed Him.
My friend, the same Christ who calmed that sea can calm your heart this very morning. Not tomorrow, not when your circumstances improve, but right now. So before we say another word, bow your head and pray with me: “Lord, quiet the storm within me, and teach my heart to rest in Your promises.”
