In 1986, an underwater drone entered the Titanic, nearly 12,500 feet beneath the Atlantic, and recorded something still hanging inside a first-class room. What had survived seventy-four years after the sinking, and how had it remained attached? This documentary follows that question through the 1986 Alvin and Jason Junior expedition, later robotic observations, underwater physics, microbial deterioration, and the archaeological relationships preserved among surviving objects. A vanished wooden crate, personal perfume vials, and evidence of the ship's electrical system help reveal why survival underwater is far more uneven than it first appears. The central light-fixture image dates to 1986. Later expeditions and the 2022 digital survey are identified separately. The film distinguishes documented observations from interpretation and does not claim that the fixture is still hanging today. SOURCES AND FURTHER READING S01 — William Sellers / WHOI.
