Letters to the 7 Churches (Ephesus)

The book of Revelation starts with John’s vision of the glorified Lord Jesus, and His letter to 7 churches based in modern day Turkey. In his commentary on the book of Revelation, John MacArthur wrote, “Seven is the number of completeness; therefore, the seven churches symbolise the churches in general. These were actual churches in real places, but are symbolic of the kinds of churches that exist through all of church history”. In these letters, Jesus commends some of the churches and rebukes others, calling them to repentance.
